Jeff left this past Tuesday for Iowa to visit the John Deere factory! He got invited along with another farmer from the valley by the owner of our local John Deere dealership. So he, the owner, another farmer/friend and tractor salesman/friend all got to go! Jeff was wanting to take our camera along so he could take lots of pictures, but it turns out they said no one could take pictures in any of the factories so this is the one and only picture he got the whole 4 days he was gone! They were only supposed to be gone till Thursday night, but got a call that their flight was cancelled Thursday morning so they didn't get home until around noon on Friday. They flew into Cedar Rapids, home of the recent devasating flooding. Jeff said it looked like a war zone and was very sad to see, especially being a fellow farmer and seeing peoples crops and even farms destroyed. Someone they were driving with on the way to their hotel said that the water was all the way up to the Dairy Queen sign that they drove by.... yeah, like 20+ feet high! Insane. Anyhow, besides that he had a great time and brought home some great gifts!

Here's the goodies he brought home for Ryan- a really cool tractor book, "Future John Deere Farmer" shirt (which is a little too big, but hopefully it'll shrink a bit in the wash! If nothing else he'll grow into it!) and a 9630 John Deere tractor! Ryan was ecstatic and kept thanking Jeff! Daddy did well! :)
Then for me and the baby, he got a hot off the line infant John Deere outfit set. He told me he'd love for our son to come home from the hospital in it so we'll have to see if how it fits when he's born! I thought that was very thoughtful of him to think of something for the baby to wear. The gal in the store at the factory told Jeff that none like this have been made and they are brand new even to them so that makes it even more special. It came with a JD tactor onesie, hat, bib and denim overalls (with a cute JD tractor in the middle!) So adorable!
