Pinterest!

I found the most addicting website last month... PINTEREST... I love it! So dangerous, though! I've already made a few of the things I've seen on the site and the list of things to still try is too long to even wrap my head around!

Mod Podge + epsom salt= very pretty pumpkins

Grape vine wreath+orange spray paint+berries+burlap= very cute wreath!
Salt+flour+vegetable oil+food coloring= great play dough!

Blackberry jam+puff pastry= ridicuously delicious pastry treat!

Random pics

I walked out of the kitchen and found Jacob reading the tractor newspaper. :)
Getting over the flu- what toddler doesn't lay down on the couch with a rolling pin?!! :) Oh, and the remote control- don't think anyone will mess with him.
A couple days after Jacob brought the flu home from our Wednesday morning women's Bible study toddler group, I came down with it, as did Jeff, but I had the major aches and pains that come along with the flu. Ugh. It was aweful. I came down with it in the middle of the night, Satuday night and on Monday my sister Ryan while my mom took Jacob. While Ryan was at my sister's house, he made me this Valetine's Day/Get Well Soon wreath. She said he was so sweet about how concerned he was about me not feeling good and thought this would cheer me up. And it did. Such a sweet boy he is. :)

Happy boy with his tractor/truck newspaper.

Ryan the chef!

Ryan decided HE wanted to make lunch for him and Jacob- PB & J for Jacob and ham & cheese for Ry. He got everything out he'd need to make them first!
Cuties :)
The PB&J he made!
Ham & cheese- even with a little mustard and mayo- he's getting to be such a big guy. :)

Mr. Jacob's 2nd haircut!

Took Jacob down to Amy (who does my hair) today to get a much needed hair cut before she has her baby which could be anyday! So glad she was able to do it b/c I really didn't want to take him anywhere else yet. She did such a good job with his 1st haircut and he did so well that I figured I didn't want to mess with a good thing. This morning when we got there, Jacob wasn't as keen to hop up in the chair like he was the first time, but I sat him up there anyways, crocodile tear and all, and he ended up settling down and doing just fine. Stopped an got him a Tootsie Pop sucker to keep him entertained like I did the first time and that definitely helped. It wasn't so hard for me this time to see those beautiful curls cut off b/c they were cut off last time and they came right back so I wasn't so sentimental this time.
Such a handsome little dude. Had to take some pictures while he was brushing his teeth b/c it was the best way to catch him sitting still!

Looking good big guy! :)

All I need is....

...my boots, a good diaper and my dump truck! :)
I just love this. Jacob is a bit obsessed with his boots lately and prefers (or demands sometimes!) to wear them over his regular shoes. The other day he was running around in his diaper then he went out in the hall to get his boots on and then came back in the house just to sit at the table and play with his truck. Such a silly boy!

Book reading time!

The other evening Ryan & Jacob were playing so nice together- they'd pretend then were sleeping and then just acting silly together. When I walked in on them the first time, Jacob was laying down on the couch and Ryan was 'reading' him his John Deere book. It was SO cute! I went back in the kitchen to grab my camera and by then Jacob had sat up to look at the pictures as Ryan read to him. :)
Showing him the pictures.

Getting to the next page.
It was cute- Ryan looked up and me and said in a sort of secret voice, "Mom I can't really actually READ all the words, but I'm just sort of telling him a story through the pictures.". I loved it!

Crazy kids!

Yesterday the boys decided to go upstairs to play around a bit. Somehow they ended up doing this in our room- when I went to check on them, they were nicely watching a cartoon all cuddled up in our bed. Well all of the sudden I heard from coming down the hall yelling 'Oh my goodness!!!" so of course I met him at the stairs to see what was going on and he said 'Jacob took his diaper off and he peed on your bed!!". NICE. So went up there to find him naked at a jay bird (as was Ryan) with the biggest smile on his face. Thankfully, he peed next to our bed not on our bed so it was an easy clean up. I asked Ryan why in the world they took their clothes off and he said, 'We just thought it would be fun to jump around on your bed naked!'. Ohhh boy.
Talk about some happy boys! And after I snuck this shot, they were fully dressed again and sent downstairs where they could be monitored better!

Arizona trip!

Last week (Sunday-Thursady) Jeff and I, along with Jeff's brother & sister-in-law, Steve & Melinda, went to Arizona for a Darigold YC (young cooperators) conference hosted by some of the young dairy producers from Arizona. It was a great time, but unfortunately the day we arrived in AZ I came down with some sort of sinus/upper chest bug that attacked my voice and left me with out one for 3 days! I made the best of it, and thankfully, most of the time I didn't feel that terrible I just couldn't talk which was frustrating since I like to chat! ;) Anyhow, we left Saturday evening before dinner and headed down to Seattle to stay in a hotel that we were able to leave our vehicle at while we were gone. Jeff's parents were kind enough to come stay at our house with our boys and Steve & Melinda's 3 kids! I had a little meltdown before leaving just because I'd never left Jacob for that long... I knew he'd be fine, it was just ME! Getting out the door is always the hardest part!
Sunday morning we caught our 7:30am flight and arrived in Phoenix, AZ just in time for lunch! It was so nice to arrive to blue, sunny skies and palm trees! Our hotel/conference was at the Mission Palms Hotel in Tempe and was beautiful! It was neat to walk into the courtyard there and see so many orange trees full of oranges!
Monday we decided to go on a little adventure with Steve & Melinda and some fellow friends/dairy producers, Lonny & Michelle, to Glendale where the BCS football game was held, Oregon vs. Auburn. We took the light-rail to one point, walked a little towards our bus stop then stopped for a bite to eat on foot at a Carl's Jr. then walked (wayyy longer than we planned!!) to catch a public transportation bus to Glendale which was a good 45mins. ride with all the stops along the way. Boy did we ever meet some interesting people! Jeff and I even sat next to an ex-con and visited with him for a bit. He'd just gotten out 32 days earlier after spending 12yrs. in jail for assault with a deadly weapon (he said it was in self defense). That was just ONE of many people we encountered on our journey, but it was fun day. When we arrived to the stadium it was pretty crazy, but very entertaining to people watch. We walked around and saw the bands practicing, cheerleaders cheering, and tons of die-hard fans!! A couple hours before the game started we left and headed back on the bus and then to the light rail again to watch the game together at a local sports bar in Tempe just a couple minutes from our hotel.

Tuesday morning Melinda and I hit the Tempe Mall while the guys went golfing- we all had a good time then were back together when the meeting started at 2pm. It's always fun seeing the YC's from our state and Idaho who we generally only get to see at YC conferences twice a year. It was nice meeting some of the younger dairy farmers from Arizona, too. There were many good speakers, but the main one and my personal favorite was Jolene Brown from Iowa. Her and her husband farm, but she also is a professional speaker regarding family farms and such. She offered some great ideas and advice and was just really enjoyable to listen to.

The sun was wonderful!!!! The last day we were there when the meetings were over after lunch, Melinda, Michelle and I hit the rooftop pool to lay out a bit before having to catch the shuttle to head to the airport. It was so nice to soak up that sun! It was great to get away, but boy was I ready to see my boys when we got home and we could tell the feeling was mutual. Everything went great for Dave & Yvonne. My parents took Jacob for a couple of the days and it was sweet to hear that Dave & Yvonne and all the kids missed having Jacob around. :) We are so blessed to have such great parents who enjoy and love being around their grandkids!

Lonnie, Melinda, Steve, Jeff and I inside all the pre game madness! Thanks, Michelle, for taking this picture!

Happy 6th Birthday Ryan!!!

Yep, this is what a 6yr. old looks like!! :)
All ready for school, even with his light up 'Birthday Boy!' button. :)
I was planning to make cupcakes to bring to his class for his birthday and then we decided it would be fun to do something different and bring Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Here they are, hot & ready to be delievered to his class!
Jacob wanted a part of the birthday doughnuts and had one on our way to the school. :) Mmmmm!
Just a 'few' cupcakes to frost for Ryan's birthday party!
All done! Vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting just as the birthday boy requested. ;)
This past fall at the Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland dinner auction, Jeff & I 'won' a party at the Skagit County Children's Museum so that's where we let Ryan have his party this year! He could invite up to 30 kids and I think there were almost 25 there! They had such a great time and the best part was we had the WHOLE place to ourselves! Both rooms in the back were open so we had plenty of room to eat and such. The menu consisted of hotdogs, chips, beans, veggies & fruit! Oh and almond bark dipped pretzel sticks and cupcakes!
Such a blessed boy to have so many friends and family come celebrate his birthday with him!
Thank you to all of you and especially to my mom and Melinda who were there early to help get the place ready for the big par-tay! :)
Singing 'Happy Birthday' to Ryan and him blowing out his candle!
SO much fun! We're beyond blessed to call Ryan our son!
WE LOVE YOU RYAN JEFFREY BOON! :)
Love,
Mom, Dad & Jacob

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope you all had a fun New Years Eve and a good New Years day! We had a nice time up at Steve & Melinda's last night with the rest of the Boon gang- ate pizza and other yummy snacky food. Had intentions of playing the Farming Game, but were all just too comfortable sitting in the living room so called it a night shortly before 10pm. Must be getting old?
This morning Jacob wanted to much to have a 'big boy cup' like his brother and cousins so we gave him some water and went over and sat by Carissa to drink it.
It was really cute- he looked like such a big boy just sitting there, sipping on his cup of water and hanging out with Carissa. He did this for quite a while so I had to snap a picture of it!
Here's to good health and many blessings in 2011!!
