Time to play catch up!

Okay, so once again I have been so bad at blogging. That darn Facebook will get ya! :) Here's some of the events/pictures that have happened since the last time I blogged in the early fall.

Grandma & Grandpa Boon went away to Winthrop with some friends for a weekend and came home with these matching shirts for Jordan & Ryan that say: "Daddy knows alot, but Grandpa knows everything!". Very cute & the boys LOVE them!

The usual rough-housing that comes along with having two little boys! Ryan sure knows how to make his little brother laugh!:)

September!

We've had a good, but busy September so far... and yikes, it's over halfway over!
This is Ryan on his 1st day of school! His teacher this year is Mrs. Case and he LOVES going to school. He's always asking when he gets to go again! :)

Ryan & Mrs. Case on his 1st day of school at Fir-Conway Lutheran Preschool!

I attacked a painting project head on! :) haha. I'd been wanting to paint our utility room for awhile now and decided to go get the paint and get it all done one afternoon- and I did! I love the color, but the room itself isn't done yet so more photos when that happens later!

Ryan helped me make a Whacky Cake for Jeff's 31st birthday!
This is Ryan helping me put the sprinkles all over it!

Our big stud!

How could I forget? Last Thursday Ryan had a little "expansion" procedure done down at Children's for his back, which basically expands the little device in his back so his back can continue to grow normally. The actual procedure takes about 20mins. but we unfortunately got bumped back because the case ahead of us turned out to be more serious/complicated than they thought so we had to wait almost another hour. He was a total trooper! Jeff & I were most concerned about the eating part b/c he hadn't had anything to eat since late the night before, but we just made sure to keep him occupied while we waited and it never even came up!
Here's the big guy eating his dinner in his room. He got rolled into his room (where Jeff & I were waiting) eating a popsicle with a smile on his face!
Here he is having a little dinner!

I think he's eating some licorice I'd gotten from the vending machine for him. He did such a great job and the least I could do to reward him was give him a little licorice! :)

Heading home later that day!
The bummer part of it all is that a few days after we were home, he broke out in a rash on his back. It started small and got bigger over a couple days till it covered almost his entire back. :( I called the nurse from Children's & she said it was common to have a reaction to the "prep" they use for the procedure (I'm assuming the Iodine?) and to put some Hydrocortisone cream on it for the itching. Well that wasn't really doing the trick so I took him into our local doctors office to have it looked at and he said it was definitely a reaction to something they'd put on his back and so he prescribed a stronger cortisone cream and some Zyrtec (an antihistamine). He said it could take at least 48-72hrs. before we noticed a change and finally are seeing some improvement today. What a deal. He's had virtually no pain since we came home but the dang itching was driving him crazy (therefore me crazy!) and I was feeling so bad for him! Thankfully things seem to be looking up again. Tomorrow we have a quick follow up appt. down at Children's so I'm anxious to talk with them more about this reaction he had and what we can do different next time.

Our August so far...

Jacob outside in the grass just hanging out on a mild summer day! He LOVES being outside. He almost starts to like giggle and get all gitty if we start to head towards the door. It's really very funny.

Mama & Jacob!

We went to a baby shower for Miss Kherington & her mommy, Nicole last weekend! Jacob & Rilyn finally got to meet in person- last time they "met" Tracey & I were both still carrying them in our tummies! They were so cute together with their big blue eyes!
We, of course, went to the Skagit Fair! Ryan, Jacob & I ran into our friends, the Requa's and so Ryan & Madalyn were kind enough to pose for me on the Kubota tractor!

Awww, brothers! I can never take enough pictures of these two together.

Catch up!

I can't believe it's been over a month since I "blogged"! Yikes! We've just been busy doing all the fun things that come along with summer time...
Ryan got to help our neighbor/friend do some combining! He loved it! It was huge and he was eating it up the whole time!
Took the kiddos down to the Silvana to watch two of our nieces & a nephew show their cattle (only managed to get a picture of Kylie & her cow, Elise!).
Then we headed for the ocean for a little R & R! It was beautiful there in Long Beach, WA. Non of us had been there before and were pleasantly surprised! The best part is that when it was about 100+ degrees here at home, it was about 70 there! Perfect! We invited some friends of ours, Billie & Trevor to come along with us and we all had a great time! The condos were perfect for accommodating travelling families and were really cute & "beachy" themed!
This is the view from one of the rooms!
POOL TIME! This was Jacob's first time in a pool and he LOVED it! He was laughing, smiling, splashing... the whole works! We were in there for quite a bit with him (it was as warm as bath water!) and he enjoyed every minute of it. Ryan thought it was pretty cool to have him in there with him, too, and loved making him laugh!
Oh yes! And IRRITATION... I mean irrigation! One evening Ryan & Jeff went out on our quad to "check" on it and managed to "accidentally" go under it! Ryan thought it was so hilarious! Oh well, it was bath night anyhow!

Baby Jacob!

"Baby Jacob" is getting awefully big these days! He's changing so much! He officially has 5 teeth and working on the other 3 eye teeth. Man, that's a lot of work for a little guy! Thankfully, he's been a pretty good teether. In fact you really wouldn't know he was teething except for the exceptional amount of drool coming out of his mouth and some usual fussiness. Nothing a little Tylenol can't usually fix. :) He's such a happy guy. He's sitting up by himself for the most part- sometimes still does the slow fall to the side, but all and all he's sitting like a big boy! Most days he loves his baby food and is starting to try more and more "big people food". I had to ask the doctor when I had his ears checked a couple weeks ago (b/c he was pulling at them, but was just part of teething) to remind the things that he shouldn't eat right now besides the obvious peanuts and honey. She said egg whites and strawberries, too! I didn't remember strawberries with Ryan, but I guess alot of people are pretty highly allergic to them! Who knew?! At that check up he weighed 23lbs. 9oz.! He's in his big boy carseat which is taking some getting used to. I could hardly carry him in his infant seat anymore, plus he'd reached the weight limit for it. I miss the convenience of it, but ya got to make the move sometime!
Cheeser smile! Look at all those toofers! :)
Yay! Happy boy!
"Hmmmmm" :)

Ahhh, we just love this boy! Ryan is so good with him and just loves getting to play and interact with him more and more. We're so blessed that he's such a good big brother and has so much love for his little brother. We still have to remind him from time to time that even though he's getting bigger HE'S STILL A BABY!! :)

It's been a long time!!!

Man, I have been terrible at blogging lately! I'll try to play a quick "catch up"!
Here's Jacob on the 4th of July, which we spent over by Jeff's parents in the little, but patriotic town of George, WA. This was after the parade... it was HOT over there! Jacob had had enough so off to sleepy land he went and took a nice little snooze in his stroller under the shade!

The brothers hanging out on the blanket in the grass on the 4th!
This was taken at Jeff's mom's 60th birthday party that us kids put on for her over in LaConner last month. The weather was perfect and the view was gorgeous being right there on the water! I do love this picture of me and my boys! :)

Sweet boy, Jacob, loving his bath time!

Last month we also got to go down to a Mariner's with most of Jeff's family and their kids, as well as his parents. Thankfully, my mom & dad were kind enough to keep Jacob for us so we could just sit & enjoy the game! We spent the night before at a hotel in Bellevue and had alot of fun together with lots of family!

Mr. Jacob!

I took Jacob to the doctor this morning as his eye has been a little goopy/crusty the last week or so. His left eye has always weeped a little and I was given an prescription for drops at his 4 month appt. but never had it filled as it never got worse. Well it go worse and then I realized I had tossed the old prescription as I thought it might have been too old to have filled anyways. So sort or long story short, it looks like it might just have a little infection in it so got a new prescription for antibiotic drops and hoping that does the trick quickly. He has been tugging on that ear quite a bit lately, but that can also be from just teething, which he is definitley doing! His ear looked fine so must just be an eye thing. Anyhow, they had to weigh and he's 22lbs. 4oz.! What a growing little boy!!

Memorial Day Weekend in Winthrop!

This is how Ryan and his buddies spent most of the long weekend in Winthrop... playing in the DIRT! :) This is Ryan, Mason & Craig.
We wanted Ryan to get a little break from the afternoon sun so let him have a couple "girl-friends" over to our trailer to watch a movie and have some snacks. Lucky boy, that Ryan!
Ryan, Madalyn & Alexa (his new "friend" who he took quite a liking to this weekend!) :)
Our fire was about this big every night- our nice men wanted to keep us gals happy and warm and that they did! With a fire this big, you have to get creative when it comes to roasting marshmellows.... ya gotta find a really long stick!
Our WARM fire!
Jacob, in the front pack with me, on our way down with everyone to the river.
The kiddos "roughing it" our last night at camp, sitting in front of a pretty big TV and zoning out with some strawberry shortcake after some very full days of seriously playing!
After Ryan got a bath, he got to come back out and finish the movie, all cozy in his clean jammies and blanket... John Deere, of course! :)

Daddy & Jacob
Craig & Ryan enjoying their smores.... YUMMY!!
CUTIE! Very dirty, but still a cutie!
Jacob being held by our friend, Dustin, who was getting in some practice as he and his wife have a baby boy on the way!

Daddy with Jacob in the front pack... a sleeping Jacob, that is!

On our last day, we headed out of camp and headed to our annual stop for some ice cream in town! Here's cowboys, Craig & Ryan enjoying some ice cream on their saddles.
Some of the kiddos lined up, enjoying some yummy ice cream!
One of our friends took a quick family picture for us before we headed back on the road again. Of course, the second after she took it, Jacob gave a hug smile... figures!

Where have we been???

Wow! I can't believe it's been about a month since I've blogged on here?? It's that darn Facebook, I tell ya! It absorbs most of my "computer time" these days but I'll try to play catch up!

Here's our handsome boys, Jacob & Ryan on Mother's Day!
Jacob's face after some tasty baby food... still adorable- even with a filthy face! :)
Mommy & Jacob, just hangin' out!
Ryan took this picture himself and I found it on my computer the next time I used it... I was totally cracking up, as was Jeff when I showed it to him- such a goofball... I mean "cool dude"!
